The straws are then transported to the villages and our weavers take the fresh straws and dry them by natural sunlight. The dried plants are then carefully filtered according to quality and they are then stored in hour houses.
Weaving and plaiting
Every day, our professionals take out some small portion of the straw and then soak it in clean water so that it becomes soft enough for weaving. When they become ready for weaving, our weavers work together, weaving all types of straw baskets.

Yes, I used them for bread baskets for an Italian theme dinner but they would easily hold a sandwich and chips or chicken and a container of potato salad or whatever.
Are these baskets soft enough not to scratch wood furniture?
That’s kind of tough to answer. They are a little abrasive as they are made of natural fiber. I would feel ok about it, but depending on how much they will get used and how fine your wood finish is they could scratch. Sorry to be vague, but it’s sort of subjective.
Are the straws treated with anything?
No, the straws are not treated with anything.
